The following is an approximate
timeline and sequence
for ordering custom invitations from nikkineat DESIGNSTM.
Because of the personal attention given
to every order, an earlier start is always welcome.
|
|
4 - 6 months before your wedding: |
|
Schedule
a consultation. This
process may be done by phone or email if you are unable to meet in person.
During the initial consultation you will view samples and we will
discuss colors, papers, fonts, artwork and all of the necessary elements
to create a mock-up of your custom invitation ensemble.
Order a mock-up. There
is a $30.00 non-refundable mock-up fee, and $25.00 of this fee will be
applied to your order total. At this point, you will need to provide wording of your choice or
select from the wording suggestions provided.
Approve your custom
invitation ensemble.
Generally, a second meeting is scheduled to review
and approve your mock-up. You will see your invitation ensemble
and sign a PROOF APPROVAL sheet
and ORDER QUOTE detailing the costs of your order. If you are unable to meet in person, you
will receive a personal web address for viewing your custom design,
PROOF APPROVAL
and
ORDER QUOTE. You
will also receive samples of your paper choices in the mail. Changes in papers, colors, fonts or wording must be made at this
time -- prior to placing your final order. If you choose not to order nikkineat DESIGNSTM, I retain the rights
to the original design as well as the $30.00 deposit.
|
|
3 - 4 months
before your wedding: |
|
Place your
invitation order. Payment in full is required upon
placement of your order. Production will not begin until your
payment and PROOF APPROVAL sheet are received. Generally, allow a minimum of 3 weeks for
production of wedding invitations -- certain specialty papers may require longer.
Orders
placed less than 90 days prior to your wedding date will incur a 10%
rush order fee, and are subject to availability of materials. Birth,
new home, graduation, and holiday designs require less time.
Pick up your completed
order. Clients in the metro Atlanta area are
encouraged to pick up orders to avoid shipping and handling costs.
Orders may be shipped anywhere in the US via USPS Priority Mail or UPS.
|
|
6 - 8 weeks before your
wedding: |
|
Mail
your invitations.
If you have guests coming from out of state or overseas, you may want to
mail them sooner.
-Many
clients also send out save-the-date announcements.
This helps ensure that guests are aware of the event and have marked
their calendars before they receive their invitations. Save-the-date
announcements are helpful
when getting married on a holiday weekend or inviting a large number of
out-of-town guests. These may be mailed 6 - 8
months before your wedding.
Take
your invitations to the Post Office to have them weighed for proper
postage. This includes checking for the possibility of an
additional ounce ($.23) as well as the nonmachinable surcharge ($.12)
for all squares, and rectangles that need to be hand-cancelled.
Hand-canceling, or "nonmachining", is recommended to preserve
the quality of your custom invitations.
Postal
Note:
Standard First Class postage, effective July 1, 2002:
First ounce: $.37
Each additional ounce: $.23
Nonmachinable surcharge: $.12
Postcards: $.23
